Cowpea Beans, also known as Chauli or Chawli, are legumes covered in a green-colored pod that measures approximately 25cm in length. These pods are thin and have multiple edible cowpea beans inside that have a plethora of culinary applications. Cowpea beans have a nutty aroma with a rich creamy and slightly earthy taste to it.
Cowpea beans can be used in many ways from boiling, steaming, and stir-frying among others. It is a popular ingredient in various types of sambar, sabzi, and curries. It has medicinal uses as well.
